Pine – Softer wood, easily dents. Color is light but easily stains. Has more round knots
Poplar – Greener color- smooth streaks – easily to work with – No knots
Oak – No knots – Harder and more solid – Medium dark color – Easy to stain
Cherry – Reddish brown color – Easy to work with
Maple – Lighter color
Plywood – Sheet wood. Usually straighter than natural wood
