Putting together a tool kit
Our tool kit for getting started woodworking
Our idea is to put together a woodworking tool kit thats easy to use
Easy to store away
Easy to move around
Not take up too much space
Something that can also be useful for getting started woodworking
Hand tools and portable power tools can be good to start with because they cost less and they don’t take up as much space as full size power tools
To put our kit together heres
What we chose so far :
Starting with hand tools
For all work we need
Tools for
Measuring
Cutting
Drilling
Sanding
Joinery
The Tools
Tape measure
For all measuring
We have a 15 feet which works fine for a lot of smaller projects
A 12 foot is also good cause its smaller so its lighter.
This will help keep the kit lighter
Cost starting at $5-10
Speed square
We have these but we will probably be using a combination square more if were using hand tools the most
A speed square will be more useful when we use portable power tools
Good used as a guide for cutting with a circular saw
Cost starting at $5-10
Combination square
6 inch or 12 inch
6 inch is more compact so its a little more comfortable to use on smaller projects
But a 12 inch would work too
The three tools :
Tape measure
Speed Square
Combinations Square
Cost starting at $5-10
Our tool list is what we think we can use the most often
If we need any other tools we can add them as they become needed
Up next : cutting tools
The next post we will have our list of cutting tools from our tool kit
